Show us your favorite moment in sports.
Lou Gehrig's "Luckiest Man" speech... One man's legacy still brings grown men to tears. It wasn't just about how he played the game, but how he lived his life. No one argue or disputes his words...and everyone who ended a sports career (last little league game, last high school game, college, pros) can remember a similar moment.
What is your legacy?

What's the oldest thing in your fridge?
Some chicken wrapped in aluminium foil. It's been there for a few months. I keep forgetting to throw it out when I take the trash out.

What words, for the life of you, can you never spell correctly?
Submitted by Byrne.
"Drawer". Seriously it just now took me several attempts to spell it. It looks like "Draw-er" Shouldn't there be an "O" in the stinking word. I can remember losing in a spelling bee because of this word.
Thursday April 19th - Vincent Padilla fails to secure his first win of the season, however it's Feldman that records the loss. The Indians win 6-4. Sammy Sosa strokes his forth homer.
Friday April 20th - The Rangers get lit up by the Athletics 16-4. McCarthy earns his 3rd loss.
Thursday April 19th - Astros win 8-6 over the Reds, and their record is now 8-6. Brad Lidge is awarded the win. Wheeler records the save (3). Luke Scott and Jason Lane hit a home run. Woody Williams gives up 6 runs over 6 innings.
Friday April 20th - Astros win 6-5 over the Brewers. Craig Biggio hits a grand slam to help seal the victory. Chad Qualls earns the save. Astros sit atop the division with a record of 9-6. Definitely an improvement after they stumbled out of the gates.
OTHER THOUGHTS -
Thursday April 19th
- A-Rod launches his 10th homer of the season. He now has 26 RBIs on the season and in all fairness he committed his second error on the season.
Friday April 20th
- A-Rod hits two more home runs to lead the entire MLB with 12. Yankees still lose.
This was posted by Gman at http://youthministryforum.blogspot.com/. Something I need to refresh with while searching for a church. I keep saying that I'm looking for a church that will love for me to love them. Anyways...
-----------------------
For those of you who are currently looking for a new ministry remember a few things.
1. Interview the Church thoroughly.
2. If a church acts like its a privilege just to grace their pulpit, then walk away.
3. If you feel like your getting the 3rd degree then walk away.
4. If they will not give you a copy of the past 3 years budgets, then don't even go to the interview.
5. If they act a little skiddish when talking about pay, then pay attention to that.
6. Ask them what an acceptable yearly increase should be.
7. Make sure they completely define your role before you walk in the door.
8. Ask if any 1 person runs the church and then watch everyones body language very carefully.
9. Ask every leader who interviews you what they exactly do in the church. This will allow you to see how motivated they really are.
10. If you are frustrated by the overall process of one church, then walk away. Spend a lot of time in prayer and make sure that you only proceed in God's good timing.
The Rangers were on the bad end of a Mark Buehrle whooping stick, losing 6-9 The White Sox' left hander faced the minimum 27 batters and was a walk away from a perfect game. Buehrle walked Sammy Sosa in the fifth but then promptly picked him off at first base. I find this really impressive. The Rangers may not be a great team, but they do have a knack for hitting the ball. Not tonight however. Not this early season. It doesn't matter if they were able to improve their pitching if they don't start hitting. Jim Thome hit two home runs to lead the Sox' charge. The Rangers are a game and a half behind the A's.
The Astros go above .500 for the first time this year, after a 7-2 win over the Reds. Aaron Harang of the Reds pitched 6 good innings, and was actually leading when he left, but with a 5 run eighth the Astros pulled ahead. Chris Sampson pitched 7 strong innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits. Biggio failed to get any hits today. The Rangers are now in second place, tied with the Red, half a game behind the Brewers.
OTHER THOUGHTS:
- The Nationals are actually 2 games ahead of the Phillies in the NL East.
- The Mets' John Maine flirted with a no-no up to the 7th inning, when Miguel Cabrera broke it up.
- Dontrelle Willis of the Marlins lost his first game of the year (record now is 3-1)
- The Braves continue to look like a team to beat. They defeated the Cubs 8-6 increasing their record to 10-4.
- Brandon Webb of the Diamondbacks pitched 8 strong innings and recorded 13 K's.
- The Mariners' phenom Felix Hernandez left in the first with tightness in his pitching arm. The team's keeping their lips shut for the moment, say it was for precautionary reasons.
- Albert Pulojs hit a massive home run last night, but was out matched when Barry Bonds placed one in McCovey Cove. Bonds is now 18 away from breaking the record.
