OTHER THOUGHTS -
Thursday April 19th
- A-Rod launches his 10th homer of the season. He now has 26 RBIs on the season and in all fairness he committed his second error on the season.
Friday April 20th
- A-Rod hits two more home runs to lead the entire MLB with 12. Yankees still lose.
Monday April 16th - An off day for the boys.
Tuesday April 17th - Win 8-1 over Chicago. Robinson Tejada won his second game after pitching 7 innings giving up only one run to the White Sox. Sammy Sosa hit another home run.
Monday April 16th - A 4-3 victory over the Marlins. With a 5-6 the Astros are a game under .500. Chad Qualls struck out 3 of the 5 batters he faced and recorded his second win. Craig Biggio now has 2,942 career hits. He should reached the 3,000th hit this season. A sure Hall of Famer.
Tuesday April 17th - Roy Oswalt pitches another great game and the Astros reach .500 by beating the Florida Marlins 6-1. Carlos Lee goes 3-4 with a double and a round tripper.
OTHER THOUGHTS:
Monday April 16th - Josh Beckett won his 3 game and David Ortiz hit another homer for the Red Sox.
Tuesday April 17th - Todd Jones of the Detroit Tigers now has 7 saves on the season. The Tigers continue to impress me. Adam LaRoche of the Pirates, after being traded from the Braves this offseason, continues to swing at everything, but today he connected with one well enough to send it over the fence. A-Rod goes deep again. So far this season he has 8 HRs, 21 RBIs, .375 batting average, .979 slugging percentage in just 48 at bats. And his hits are important hits. Of course Yankee fans continue to doubt. (Idiots?) John Smoltz, Greg Maddox and Tom Glavine, all former Braves, all took the mound today. The NL West is going to be a tough race between the Diamondbacks and the Dodgers. The Dodgers won tonight, but the injury ridden Diamondbacks are not even in full swing yet.
The Rangers threw up 12 runs last night, which was able to hold up against the 9 the Devil Rays scored. Kenny Lofton went 3-3, including a home run. An impressive victory. 12 runs off 12 hits...equals great at bats.
The 'stros now have a record of 3-5, after winning last night 3-0 over the Cubs. The Cubbies are still winless at home.
OTHER THOUGHTS:
A-Rod hit his 6th home run last night. Granderson of the Tigers went 2-3 with 2 stolen bases. I recently picked him up on my fantasy team. I'm hoping to steal some points through the SB category.
Friday - Win 2-0 over the Red Sox. R. Tejeda pitches 7 strong innings.
Saturday - Win 8-4 over the Red Sox. Millwood is credited with the win and Sosa hits his first homer of the season.
Sunday - Loss 3-2 by the Red Sox. David Ortiz hits two home runs. Padilla records second loss.
Monday - Win 8-4 over the Devil Rays. McCarthy records his first victory of the season. Rangers are now 3-4. Kinsler goes 4-4 on the day. The Rangers were able to chalk up 15 hits in the game.
Friday - Loss 4-2 by the Cardinals. Again failing to score more than 2 runs.
Saturday - Win 5-1 over the Red Birds. Oswalt is credited with the win and Carlos Lee his his first homer of the season.
Sunday - Return to losing for with a 10-1 shlacking by the Cardinals. Can't score runs.
Monday - Win 5-3 over the Cubs. Lidge is offically demoted from the closer position. Chad Qualls wins his first of the season. Wheeler gets his first save as the offical closer.
OTHER THOUGHTS:
Friday - Fransico Rodriguez tallies his 3rd save.
Saturday - D. Willis of the Marlins wins his second game. A-Rod goes 3-4 with 2 homers and 6 RBI's. John Lackey wins his second game. Josh Willingham of the Marlins is a single shy of hitting for the cycle.

First off, let's talk about the Astros. Roy Oswalt pitched a great 8 2/3 innings last night before giving up a solo home run to a pinch hitter. Just under a 100 pitches, Oswalt looked good, he was in complete control of his pitches. When he left I thought we could chalk one up in the Astros' win column. But with another solo home run in the eight and "Lights Out" Lidge offering up another in the ninth the 'stros opend the season with a very disappointing loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Now I don't want to take away from the Pirates, but this is a game the Astros should win and should have won. Two runs scored is not enough of a cushion for the Astros who continue to struggle to cross home plate. The final score was 4-2, Pittsburgh.
I didn't get to watch this game last night, which was disappointing. It was supposed to be on ESPN 2 after the MIN/BAL game, but all they showed was post coverage and highlights. The Angels won 4-1. I'm hoping to catch some Rangers tonight.
Other MLB tidbits:
A-Rod had a tough start, committing an error in the field, but redeemed himself, but hitting a home run to put the game out of the Devil Rays' reach. He went 2 for 5. Some have predicted and I hope it's proves true that this will be a monterous season for A-Rod and hopefully he was able to get rid of some early jitters.
The Florida Marlins won 9 to 2 over the Washington Nationals yesterday
Ben Sheets of the Brewers gave up a home run to Jeff Kent, but he was in complete control yesterday.
Kansas City had a big win over the Red Sox's Curt Schilling, 7-1. The Royals lit Schilling up for 5 earned runs.
